My Ancestors were ... Congregationalists (Second Edition)

in England and Wales. How can I find out more about them?

David J. H. Clifford

A5, 77 pages, ISBN: 978-1-85951-049-0

Family historians will be well aware that the parish registers of the Church of England are not the only available source for identifying the baptisms, marriages and burials of their forebears. Congregationalism has its roots in the sixteenth century, although it was only after the Toleration Act of 1689 gave official recognition to the Meeting Houses of all dissenters, that its members became free to worship openly. This booklet includes an almost exhaustive list of Congregational Chapels founded before 1850, with details of holdings by record offices and major libraries.
