Local Newspapers 1750-1920 (Third Edition)
England Wales, Channel Islands, Isle of Man: A Select Location List

A5, 72 pages, ISBN: 978-1-906280-31-4
Newspapers are a quite different source to most of those used by family historians. They respected no county boundaries, and by their ephemeral nature it is amazing that any have survived at all. The long-awaited second edition of this invaluable guide listed all newspapers published locally in England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man between 1750 and 1920 (except for titles which lasted for less than four years). The basis for the guide was the catalogue of the British Newspaper Library at Colindale, supplemented by information provided by libraries and record offices throughout the country. Indexes to personal names or obituaries, births, marriages and deaths were also noted where known. This Third Edition is essentially a reprint of the Second Edition with a new Introduction bringing up-to-date the drastic changes of the last decade and the proposed move of the British Library Newspaper Collection from Colindale to Boston Spa in 2012.
